Week 5: Thursday (9/30)

Let's get ready for tomorrow's quiz. ✨ Revise week 5 Vocabulary Words, how to spell them and how they sound. The quiz will be similar to the previous quiz. I have asked questions that I feel are suitable to the levelled class. Today, our homework will include reading ' The Big Top ' in Reading Street,   pages 92 - 105 . Remember to hand in the completed worksheet tomorrow, if it has a stamp, then you don't need to worry. PS: We really covered a lot in our Phonics Books today, and everybody followed along so well! Week 5: Wednesday (9/29)

Today, our homework will include reading ' The Big Top ' in Reading Street,   pages 92 - 105 . The completed story will help to complete the 'story part' in the worksheet due for Friday. 💫 I put the homework in the communication book for the rest of the week. I want to use more time in class to complete our scheduled work. We should all be on track by the end of the week. 😊 We will write the new Vocabulary Words  11-14 , in our  Writers Book   (bubble book) . Week 5 : Monday (9/27)

Today, we continued in our Reader's and Writers Notebooks (RWN), we need to cover a lot of pages due to the days missed last week. Week 4: Friday (9/24)

Today, we learnt more sounds in the Reader's and Writer's Notebook, that help us with our reading. We practiced  ordering letters in the alphabetical order. Here is an 'alphabetical order' game link:  Alphabetical order game  (abc...) - 1st, you choose a color - Then, you look at the beginning letters to order them alphabetically - Then, you drag the words to the top right corner, and build the following words underneath - Then, click 'done' - If it's in alphabetical order, then you'll have lots of points! We will write the last part of the Vocabulary Words, 11-14 in our Writers Book. Week 4: Thursday (9/23)

Today, I assigned seats for all the A1 students in English class. I want to keep a routine to make it easier for everyone to adjust to the changes. Let's also remember to keep following the rules. Week 4: Wednesday (9/22)

Today, we are back to school after a lovely long weekend! I hope you are well rested. We moved into our new English classes, A1, A2, I1, and I2.💫 You will get a note in the communication book with a QR code, you can then join the class for homework updates and any necessary information for these English classes. Week 3: Friday (9/17)

Today, we wrote   our 2nd quiz! Quiz papers have been checked and sent home inside the communication books. The results for our second quiz today: 100% 13 students (hooray!) >80% 16 students >60% 3 student >40% 3 students (Don't worry, we will keep practicing to succeed.) >20% 0 students Please sign the top right box and return it to school on Wednesday. Again, students need to realize how important it is not to look around or talk during a quiz. I will repeat myself when we are doing the Listening Part A. Some students want to repeat after me and this is not helpful as then there is confusion on what to write. We also spoke more about the upcoming Moon Festival! Week 3: Thursday (9/16)

Today, we continued through our Readers and Writers Notebooks, and we matched ending sounds to get the correct meanings. We also played a fun game to find the correct ending sound. For homework, we will study for the quiz ! It will be our second quiz and it will deal with the same concepts as quiz 1. Section A: Listen and spell 5 words correctly. (It will be 5 words from week 3 vocabulary) Section B: Circle the word that makes the sentence correct. Section C: Draw a line to match the words to the correct pictures. Week 3: Wednesday (9/15)

Today, we talked about prepositions in our Science books. We did a fun song teaching about prepositions. Here it is below: 🎵 Prepositions song We finished our lanterns for Mid Autumn Festival . You could try turn on your cellphone flashlight, put it under the lantern, and put the lights off for special effect.🏮 Just a note for Experience class, even though we need 'color pencils, scissors and glue', students should only take it out when I ask for it. It will make a big difference and less distraction. For  Homework , we will read  'Snap'  in our Reading Street book, page 44-53. Week 3: Tuesday (9/14)

Today, we worked in our Phonics books.  Here is a  'Match up activity' below for students to practice using the words: - I - like - to - and - the Match up words 👏 A reminder that we will have our levelling tests tomorrow morning. This way we will be able to start levelled classes next week! (After the long weekend.) Week 3: Monday (9/13)

Today, we read through 'Snap' from Reading Street. Please read through it again and every night as practice for the Friday quiz. You can also find the Week 3 Vocabulary Words on page 8 in your Communication Book. We wrote a little more about 'nouns: places' in our Readers and Writers Notebook. Here is the link to the Places Game if you would like to play it again.   Maze Chase: Places On Wednesday morning, the Grade 1 students will be having their levelling test. Students don't need to do any preparation! Just test as normal. Starting from next Wednesday (after the long weekend), we will be starting levelled classes. There will be a QR code for parents to join the appropriate LINE group with the relevant teacher. Week 3: Saturday (9/11)

Today, we started the story, ‘ Snap ’ from Reading Street. We went through the Vocabulary Words first, then reading pages 44 - 48. PS: I will send the vocabulary words PPT to you on Monday (9/13) so the students can look at it again after some Sunday rest. In our Readers and Writers Notebook, we practiced more sounds which will help us read our new story, 'Snap'. We also noticed that  nouns are people, animals, things, as well as places .🏡🏠🏢🏦🏪 Here is a fun activity for students to play. You need to find the picture which is a place . Week 2: Friday (9/10)

Today we wrote our very 1st (practice) quiz! Quiz papers have been checked and sent home. The quiz was a learning experience for the students, not any kind of formal assessment. Encourage your children and know we will continue working hard together. The results for our first quiz today: 100% 17 students (hooray!) >80% 13 students >60% 4 student >40% 3 students (Don't worry, it was only a practice round) >20% 0 students Please sign the top right box and return it to school on Monday. Students need to realize how important it is not to look around or talk during a quiz, even if it's just to say, "finished" or "that was easy". It's better to have a formal environment during quiz or test time. But DON'T WORRY, it's our 1st time! Students should also follow my instructions so they don't miss anything. Half way through the week! We made some lovely progress in our Readers and Writers Notebook (RWN). Students have learnt more about matching sounds and understanding nouns. For the rest of the week we have stuck in the homework for the students to make it easier for everyone in their 1st full week. Since this is the very first time, we are including a copy of the quiz format for everybody to look at and be familiar with. Today, we started in our Science books . We talked about shapes and sizes and compared real life objects.🌱🌳 We kept going in our Readers and Writers Notebook (RWN) which has sounds and spelling from the story 'Sam'. Week 2: Tuesday (9/7)

Today we started working in our phonics book . We practiced Aa -> Zz at the start, and did some matching practice and rhyming practice. For homework: Remember to revise the story, ' Sam ' in Reading Street, every night. Leave this book at home.🏡 Continue to complete the 4 worksheets as preparation for the quiz. Hand it back to me by Friday. And make 4 sentences in the writers book . -> See below: Fold the page in half (x2) like we did before. (See picture in Line) 1.  Sam and Tam . 2. Sam sat . 3. Week 2: Monday (9/6)

Today, we went through individual words from the story, ' Sam ', to encourage greater understanding and to build up their vocabulary words . We will still read ' Sam ' in our Reading Street book each day for homework practice.  We will have a quiz on Friday at the end of this week! 📝  So it is important that they understand the vocabulary words in order to answer accordingly. They have received the homework to help study for the quiz; Worksheet: W2 . -> There are 4 pages to be completed by Friday , or sooner.📃📃📃📃 (I have already explained it to the students, but you can find the completed version of the worksheet  in the Line Group to help to complete it.) We also kept going in our (RWN) Readers and Writers Notebook . Today we finished reading the story ' Sam '.👦 We will read the whole story for homework, page 18-27 . We also did some work in our RWN (Readers and Writers Notebook). Thursday (9/2) 2nd day of Grade 1!

We had our second day which ran a little smoother. 😌 Today we read 'Sam' in Reading Street, pages 16-23 . Please read pages 16-23 for homework . We will also practice writing the VW (Vocabulary Words) in our Writers Book for homework: - I - see - a - green We folded the 1st page in our writers book in half (open it again), so that we can practice writing one word per space. Each word will be written (4x)  on the green line , like this. Thank you everyone for coming! It was really wonderful to meet everyone today.
