Magic Monday Hello Parents, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! This week, we will focus on reviewing for the Final Written Exam. The students will also complete the final draft of their last writing assignment for Grade 1. This assignment is an important part of their writing assessment for the 2025–2026 academic school year. As we reach the end of the semester, this is a great time for students to reflect on their Grade 1 experiences and begin preparing for the exciting challenges of Grade 2. There will be no formal homework for the next two days. However, students are still encouraged to complete their Daily Self-Reflections and continue practicing Sensay. Please spend some time reviewing vocabulary words with your child, as vocabulary is often the area where students make the most mistakes on exams. It is also very helpful for students to review the three stories we have studied this quarter: • Bigger Shoes for the Big Race • The Ant and the Grasshoppe...

FANTASTIC FRIDAY: Hello Parents, We are now halfway through our Final Exams, and the hardest part is behind us! Since this is a standardized exam for all levels, next Wednesday's Final Written Exam should be much more manageable for our A1 students. The best preparation I can recommend is reviewing the Exam Review Worksheet. The test will follow the same format, with different vocabulary words, questions, and fill-in-the-blank items. However, the overall structure will be very similar. The most important thing your child can do is make sure they can spell all of the vocabulary words from Weeks 12–17. Beyond that, there is no need for extensive studying. Please don't over-study! Thank you for your support, and I am confident the students will do well! Have a restful, safe weekend. Homework: June 12th Friday 星期五 □1. MV: Review three stories from My View 1.2 (1) &1.3(2) □2. Write VW’s # ...

Tiring Thursday Hey parents; Today was a quieter day for the students as much of our class time was dedicated to Oral Exams. Most students have already completed their exams; however, I still have a few students who will need to be assessed tomorrow. There are only a small number remaining, and they will be given the same amount of time and attention as the first group received. Tonight's homework is very minimal. The students have a Final Written Exam Review Worksheet to complete. Please allow your child to complete this worksheet independently, as no assistance should be necessary. This will help me identify any areas that may need additional review before the exam. Please have your child return the worksheet tomorrow so we can correct it together in class. Once corrected, it will be returned to the students as a study guide for their final written exam. Thank you for your continued support. Homework: June 11th Thursday 星期四 □1. MV: ...

Wet & Wild Wednesday! Hi Parents: Today's Listening Exam went exactly as I anticipated—AWESOME! The children did exceptionally well, and I am very proud of their hard work and preparation. Tonight, the students are bringing home an Oral Practice Worksheet. If possible, please take a few minutes to practice with your child. Have them read the passage aloud and then answer the questions for you. They should read and re-read the "decodable" stories in My View 1.2 and 1.3 ( " Brave Jane," "Can Phil Help?," and "The Race"). Knowing these will really HELP tomorrow's oral. Please encourage your child to answer in complete sentences. One-word answers are not acceptable and will result in lost points during the Oral Exam. Practicing complete-sentence responses at home will help build both their confidence and speaking skills. This will benefit them in grade 2. Tomorrow, the students will take home a Written Exam Practice Worksheet. They ...

Terrific Tuesday Hi Parents; Today was a g reat day in class! The students successfully completed their Math workbooks. They are also bringing home their Phonics workbooks, which have been completed, corrected, and checked. These books are being sent home as keepsakes and do not need to be returned to school. Tonight's homework is the same as last night's, with one change: The Short Story Report worksheet. Today, the students received Worksheet #3 for The Clever Monkey . Tomorrow is our Listening Exam . I am not too concerned about this first exam because the students have been well prepared and I am confident they will do their best. On Thursday and Friday , we will have our Oral Exams . These can be a little more challenging. Students should review the decodable stories that were taught before each of the three main stories we have focused on this quarter. The Oral Exam often becomes more difficult during the Question & Answer section, where some students may feel less c...

Madness Monday Hi Parents: Today was a day full of review and reflection. First, we corrected Friday's test. The children did well overall, although I honestly expected slightly higher results based on their performance during our class reviews. Test Results: 100%: 2 students 90–99%: 28 students 80–89%: 2 students 70–79%: 0 students Class Average: 96% Most of the mistakes were related to proper nouns . I truly thought the students had a stronger understanding of this grammar concept, but their test results showed that we still need a little more practice. We will spend additional time reviewing proper nouns after the Final Exams next week. The children also have a worksheet for tonight's Short Story Report #2: The Ant and the Grasshopper . Please remind your child that the stories for these reports are assigned according to our lesson plan and are not chosen by the students. I would also like to mention our Self-Reflection Writing . So...

Fabulous Friday Hello Parents, Today in class we took our last test for the semester that will count in the grades for the year. I believe the children did a great job and really tried their best. I'll let you know on Monday the results. Please do not worry about over-studying for the upcoming exams. I am confident that our A1 students are well prepared and will do just fine. The homework is simply extra practice to help students review what they have already learned in class. Over the next three English classes, students will be completing Short Story Reports on the three stories we have read since Mid-Terms: • Bigger Shoes for the Big Race • The Ant and the Grasshopper • The Clever Monkey These activities will help students review story elements, practice comprehension skills, and build confidence in their English reading and writing. Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful weekend! Homework: June 5th Friday 星期五 □ 1. MV: Review: #1 Bigg...
