Grade 2 Winter Homework January 2023  

 

1.    Next semester the school will be taking submissions for the Xinmin Horizons magazine. Students can prepare a short piece of writing 60-100 words in length. There is free choice of genre and topic. Some previous examples are provided below. Please handwrite the final draft on a piece of lined paper.

 

2.    Some reading assignments, writing activities and videos will be set on Savvas Realise for students to complete during winter break.   Savvas Realise

 

3.    Grade 2 will be having a reading competition in March. Each home room must choose the three best students to represent us. Students who wish to participate in the class reading competition should choose a book and practice their oral reading. Students may choose any book and they do not have to memorize. The time limit is two minutes. Judging criteria includes- pronunciation, fluency and expression.

4. Grade 2 will have a spelling bee competition in May. Each home room must choose the five best students to represent their group. Students are encouraged to include practicing for the competition as part of the winter homework. There will be an in-class competition to choose the finalists for each group. G2 vocabulary lists can be found on the school website.

Week 4: Friday (9/22)

   For homework: - Read Reading Street 1.R , P66-79  📘 - Preview Week 5 vocabulary words Just look ahead at them, no writing needed. Here are the  A1 quiz results : 100%      - 12 students (Well done! 🙌) > 90%     - 16 students > 60%     - 1 student Remember, these scores  don't  count towards anything. 🚫 It is just practice. Students should focus on the  vocabulary words  and  story  of the week for each quiz. Students may do corrections on their quiz paper and parents may sign the quiz paper and put it inside the Communication Book for me to find. Enjoy your Friday! 👋
